- Description
- Perovskite oxides have attracted considerable attention due to their distinctive structural and electrochemical characteristics, presenting promising avenues for advanced energy storage solutions. Through precise manipulation of the A-site and B-site cations with transition metal dopants, researchers have demonstrated notable enhancements in capacitance, cycling stability, and overall electrochemical performance of supercapacitors employing perovskite oxide electrodes. The electrochemical charge storage process is greatly affected by the electronic configuration of the B-site element and its interaction with the electrolyte. Substituting secondary elements at the B-site is an effective method to improve the charge storage performance of the material. This review offers insights into the promising methodologies for optimizing supercapacitor performance of perovskite oxides by strategically modifying transition metal atoms at the B-site. Additionally, it delves into the underlying mechanisms governing the improved electrochemical behavior, emphasizing the pivotal role of transition metal atoms at B-site in facilitating charge storage processes within perovskite oxides. The review examines recent advancements and prospects in the synthesis and characterization of transition metal-based perovskite oxides for the development of next generation supercapacitors with superior energy storage capabilities.
